The Senior Director serves to both set and communicate the vision of the Technical Centers of Excellence (TCoE) for Real-world Evidence (RWE) and Health Economic Modeling (HEM) across the organization and to champion the group’s skills and capabilities, with the aim of demonstrating the value of Allergan products and advancing the organization’s strategic capabilities in RWE and HEM.
The Senior Director oversees, leads, develops, and ensures the execution of the projects and initiatives for the TCoE for Real-world Evidence and Economic Modeling. The Senior Director accomplishes this by setting the vision and defining the strategy for the TCoE across the organization.
The Senior Director has line-management and budget responsibilities for the TCoE and ensures TCoE staff members have the requisite skills and resources to execute projects requiring TCoE involvement. They serve on the GEV Senior Leadership team and serve as a senior-level advisor and mentor with regard to methodological and strategic issues.
Sets the overall TCoE vision and strategy for the organization and works to ensure that it is broadly understood, supported, and resourced. Serves as a member of the GEV Senior Leadership team. Connects broadly with cross-functoinal stakeholders in marketing, managed markets, safety, and others.
Supports the RWE lead in resourcing of RWE analysis projects. Guide RWE CoE strategies through the RWE leader. Serve as primary liaison for secondary data source contracting and vendor relationships. Serve as secondary escalation point for RWE CoE staff members and other GEV staff.
Supports the HEM leader and their operations and ensures that activites are aligned and resourced accordingly in line with corporate and therapeutic area stategey. Serve as secondary escalation point for HEM CoE staff members and other GEV staff.
According to knowledge and expertise, serve as consultant for methodology and technical topics as needed. Examples include, but are not limited to: research designs; data warehousing; data analysis/programming; statistical methods; economic modeling; regulatory/reimbursement issues; or psychometric methods. Mentoring of junior staff members and well supporting and developing the RWE and HEM leadership.
Establish relationships with key clinical and outcomes thought leaders with regard to technical areas of expertise within the Technical CoEs. Participate in conferences and industry meetings.
Manage, monitor, report and analyze the budgets for Centers of Excellence OPEX spends.
An advanced degree in statistics, biostatistics, psychometrics, health economics, econometrics, or equivalent quantitative field with expertise in drug development and commercialization on a global level, and depth of knowledge regarding evidence, value and market access excellence.
A minimum of 10 years experience in the healthcare industry, in consulting or in the pharmaceutical industry, with a working understanding of clinical development processes, regulatory guidelines on data standards, and payer/HTA evidence needs.
Excellent negotiation skills requiring and oral and written communication skills. Ability to persuade with verbal and written communications involving multiple key client groups.
Exceptional interpersonal communication to facilitate relationship building with key stakeholders.
Thorough understanding of relational database structures and data management systems.
Successful experience in at least 2 of the following 3 areas: contributing to multi-disciplinary teams including outcomes research, clinical research, market access/managed market and marketing staff to support product marketing, reimbursement and formulary acceptance.
Deep understanding of analysis methodologies employed in clinical research as applied to clinical development and post-approval studies.
Experience with health economic models and their application.
Consultative skills in the areas of study design and methodologies, advanced statistical analyses, psychometrics, biostatistics, and/or economic modeling.
Understanding of systems and methods used to assess large-scale healthcare data, eg, clustering, machine learning, pattern recognition, or
natural language processing algorithms.
A successful candidate should be able to work effectively with others in a matrix environment.
Excellent management, analytical and problem solving skills.
Willingness to travel as required, including weekends
Ability to model compliant behavior to internal and external colleagues
