Associate Professor/Professor of Health Policy and Public Health
University of the Sciences’ Department of Health Policy & Public Health is accepting applications for a 10-month, tenure-track position in the area of health policy. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The ideal candidate will have a track record that demonstrates ability for research to indicate potential success in obtaining external funding independently, and in collaboration with colleagues and external collaborators, in the form of research grants, fellowships, and consultancies; publication in peer-reviewed journals and other peer-reviewed venues; and presentations at national/international meetings. The successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to collaborative and multi-disciplinary research activities.
Research • Have a research agenda and conduct research in candidate’s relevant area of expertise. • Publish research findings in the form of peer-reviewed journals, books, and other relevant venues. • Apply for and obtain external funding, independently and in collaboration with colleagues (internal and external to USciences) including, but not limited to grants and consultancies. • Present research at regional, national, and international conferences.
Teaching and advising • Teach graduate courses in the field of health policy, public policy analysis, and related areas in the MS and PhD in Health Policy programs • Actively participate with department faculty in ongoing development and review of curricula and related activities in the department’s graduate programs. • Supervise and serve on theses/dissertation committees for MS and PhD students in Health Policy. • Advise or supervise graduate student projects including relevant capstone or field practice projects
Service/citizenship • Contribute to the Department, the College and the University by attending and actively participating in relevant faculty meetings. • Contribute to service and leadership on university or college committees and participate in college and department service responsibilities
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS An earned doctorate in health policy, health economics, health outcomes or related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Broad knowledge in the area of health policy • Expertise in one or more of the following: health policy, health law, health outcomes, health services research, public administration, public policy, health economics or other relevant disciplines • demonstrated aptitude for teaching graduate courses • established record of mentoring graduate students through the degree process
The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • a consistent record of external funding; • a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals relevant to the fields of health policy, health economics, health outcomes; • commitment to and experience in mentoring of faculty and attracting, retaining and graduating doctoral students;
