St. Louis College of Pharmacy invites applications for chair of the department of pharmaceutical and administrative sciences. You will have the chance to advise, lead, motivate, and develop faculty who specialize in medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics and pharmacy administration, and public health. This diverse group of faculty teaches Pharm.D. students in a new integrated curriculum presenting unique opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice. You can contribute some teaching as well and have the opportunity to develop an upper division elective course(s) in your specialty area.
You will be responsible for departmental administration including assignment of teaching, recruiting and evaluating full-time and adjunct faculty, assigning faculty service efforts, developing and managing the budget, providing leadership in program development, program review and evaluation, curriculum and articulation initiatives, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
You will serve as a mentor for department researchers, serve as liaison for St. Louis College of Pharmacy faculty affiliated with the Center for Clinical Pharmacology, and have an opportunity to conduct research in your area of specialization. There will be opportunities to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of expert researchers. A modest startup package and research space commensurate with rank is available.
Additional responsibilities include providing service to students the college and profession such as serving on the academic leadership team and IRB.
Do you have:
Ph.D. in pharmacy related field such as pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, pharmacy administration, or public health.
A record of academic performance consistent with the rank of professor.
Strong record of teaching excellence, preferably in a pharmacy school, including experience teaching in an ability-based education model, active learning, team-based learning, and other student-centered learning techniques.
History of research success, post-doctoral experience a plus. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and mentorship to faculty conducting research in pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacy administration.
Experience managing and leading a college department including budgets, recruitment, evaluation, development, workload and curricular planning, and grant management.
Experience with ability-based education, program assessment, learning outcome tracking. Knowledge of ACPE accreditation standards a plus.
