About the role
The Data Research & Analysis team provides high quality analysis and tools to demonstrate the value of BSC’s innovative technology. The team is seeking a Data Analytics Director to lead the development of high quality data analytic strategies, methods, and tools yielding actionable insights from customers’ financial and outcomes performance to identify opportunities to improve patient care, accelerate growth of Boston Scientific technologies and services, and strengthen customer relationships.
Your responsibilities include:
Lead the development of long-term health care data analytic strategy, including data sources, tools, reports, communications/training and required resources to execute strategy.
Lead development of apps and tools that provide insight into customers' financial performance, outcomes and quality metrics, participation in value-based contracts, and other key indicators.
Develop recommendations and influence key business stakeholders on decisions in the area of Healthcare Informatics and Big Data Analytics for therapeutic areas of interest to Boston Scientific and Boston Scientific services and solutions offerings.
Identify and execute data analysis and studies, based on retrospective claims, internal Boston Scientific trial data, and/or external data sources, that align with business objectives.
Ensure implementation of communications and training program to increase use of data analytic capabilities to support business objectives.
Build collaborative relationships with internal customers: Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA), Global Healthcare Solutions & Partnerships, Corporate Accounts, divisional and Enterprise Marketing, divisional Clinical Affairs, and divisional New Business Development.
Monitor health information technology environment to identify new data sources and methodologies and develop new tools that maintain state-of-the-art data analytics capability and improve productivity and efficiency.
Drive data analytics strategy through external data partnerships, Information Technology, and other business stakeholders.
Acts as “clearinghouse” for data vendors selling payer claims and hospital administrative data
Ensure proactive communication of Data Analytic priorities and project status with customers.
Ensure development, and consistent use, of data analysis standards and procedures, including use of analytic plans and standardized reports to convey analytic results.
Ensure the management of database infrastructure and implementation of processes/procedures, and use of documentation according to standard operating procedures.
Provide analysis and support to health economics and outcomes research studies both US and OUS.
Serve as a technical mentor for staff and verify/review their programming as needed.
Direct and supervise staff as necessary to implement all of the above strategies, methods, and tools.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelors degree in Health Services, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Public Health or in a STEM Major (Science, Technology Engineering or Math)
15+ years of experience in health insurance industry, healthcare finance, or healthcare consulting
Prior experience working with Medicare and/or private payer medical claims data with a focus on payment policy, health delivery system policy or economic analysis.
Knowledge of statistical and other analytic methodologies used to manipulate health care data and extract actionable insights
Background in Statistical programming skills (i.e. SAS, R, etc.)
Advanced Microsoft Excel user
Intermediate to advanced background in visualization tools (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Excel Charts, etc.)
Experience leading a remote team
Experience with vendor management
Understands key cross-functional concepts that impact the organization; aware of business priorities and organizational dynamics.
Strong ability to communicate deep analytical results in a format that resonates with the business, highlighting actionable insights
Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed environment
Communication & Influence – solicit ideas for improvement and engages stakeholders and employees in developing plans. Excellent executive presentation and communications skills are needed
Collaboration - must be able to collaborate with the country, regional, & global colleagues on both strategic and tactical levels
