Senior Scientist/HEOR Liaison to Market Access Practice
Avalere Health is searching for a highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Senior Scientist/ HEOR Liaison to Market Access Practice. Senior Scientist/HEOR Liaison to Market Access will perform health economic and outcomes research activities that support market access for pharmaceutical and device manufacturer clients’ products. The position will also develop quantitative models that further the causes or support the positions of other types of clients, such as professional and issue advocacy organizations. The Senior Scientist/HEOR Liaison to Market Access will report to the Vice President/HEOR and other vice presidents within the Market Access Practice, specialists in the Data Analytics Practice, and professionals within Avalere’s parent company, Inovalon, to design and implement studies that are aligned with client goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Understand client data needs and support the planning for, collection, and use of evidence (clinical, economic, and QOL) for client products or causes. Synthesize existing evidence to demonstrate value of client’s product or goal.
Have familiarity with content of commonly used public and private sector databases and execute alone or with others research using claims, literature, registries, survey, client-supplied, and other data to support client product market access or goal achievement. Particularly important that the candidate be able to construct prospective budget impact models, cost-effectiveness models, and cost utility studies using data from these and other sources. Other studies performed may include burden of illness, market/population sizing, treatment adherence/ persistence, epidemiologic, quality of care, and other demonstration of unmet need.
Support and develop relevant sections of study concept documents, study protocols, statistical analysis plans, clinical study reports, and other development documents.
Design and implement alone or with others systematic literature searches, literature reviews, meta-analyses, and like assemblages of secondary research.
Design, conduct, and synthesize primary research standalone projects or other qualitative adjuncts to quantitative modeling efforts.
Have knowledge of and be able to employ previously developed utility measures, e.g., QOL, functionality, et al, in analyses as appropriate.
Assist in drafting and coordinating publication plans for dissemination of Avalere and client information.
Represent HEOR on cross-functional internal teams.
Present health outcomes research findings at scientific congresses and participate in the development and writing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Desirable that the candidate have basic knowledge of US reimbursement and market access principles.
Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills
At least 3-5 years of HEOR experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries (e.g., consulting), with advanced degree in epidemiology, health economics, pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline (MBA, MS, MPH, PharmD, PhD).
Ability to communicate technical scientific data and other information to internal and external stakeholders clearly and cohesively.
Knowledge of applied epidemiology and biostatistics.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
SAS skills a plus.
Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders; personable; able to speak persuasively to influence positive outcomes.
Attentive to detail.
Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
Experience in managing multiple projects across a variety of health outcomes methodologies and therapeutic areas; assertiveness in seeking out or initiating work.
Ability to travel approximately 10-20% time.
Telecommuting is allowed.
