Health Economics/Outcomes Research, Pricing & Reimbursement
The Senior Director Health Economics & Outcomes Research develops outcomes research plans outlining the strategic approach for generating required evidence and research output. Leads the Health Economic and Outcomes Research Team to generate and present evidence to meet the medical information needs of a diverse group of HealthCare decision makers. Assesses and understands the medical information / evidence required and integrates that knowledge into Avanir research teams to fulfill HealthCare provider, caregiver and patient needs. Execute the Health Economic and Outcomes research plan to deliver data, and medical information to enable patients, clinicians and payers/policy makers to make informed decisions about Avanir product(s) and better deliver medicines to the appropriate patients.
Essential Job Functions:
Provides innovative HEOR strategies and leadership to HEOR team focused on evidence generation for optimizing patient access and reimbursement.
Conduct the following: network meta analyses; create economic models (budget impact and costs effectiveness), EMR, claims analyses and observational research studies/analyses, post-hoc clinical trial analyses, development, validation and analyses of clinical outcome assessment measures and data.
Collaborates with clinical team in selecting and/or developing outcomes measures for upcoming trials, and developing an optimal endpoint strategy.
Leads strategy on value proposition for product development team and post-market life cycle management team.
Collaborates with Managed Market Teams in building Payer focused budget models, and building Payer presentation strategy.
Partners with therapeutic area medical director and strategic marketing director in defining and prioritizing life cycle evidence needs for external stakeholders and defining HEOR strategies for optimizing access and demand.
Represents Avanir at HEOR meetings to present HEOR data needs
Ensures that HEOR evidence are effectively communicated to the formulary & reimbursement agencies for the products
Assesses HEOR programs against regulatory requirement
Assesses scientific data by competitor drugs and develops HEOR data need for pricing and reimbursement purpose
Assures compliance of evidence-based medicine and sound principles for economic assessment
Maintains awareness of HEOR regulatory legislation and assesses its impact on business and Avanir product development programs
Manages the preparation of core HEOR registration and formulary packages and answers to deficiency letters
Represents Avanir at HEOR pricing and reimbursement agency meetings
Provides HEOR expertise to licensing departments
Ensures records of filings and approvals are maintained
Makes sure the abstracts and manuscripts are submitted and accepted for publication
Manages project and therapeutic area budgets for entire HEOR Team
Collaborates with direct reports on developing career development pathway and individual growth strategy.
MPH, MSc, PhD, PharmD or MD with 10 years of relevant experience in developing product value propositions in guiding strategy for both Payer interactions and evidence generation.
Previous and relevant health economic / health outcomes experience in pharmaceutical setting.
Ideal candidate will have strong base of experience in Payer interaction, with fundamental understanding of opportunities for evidence generation through large scale data analysis as well as investigator initiated study and RFP strategies.
Sufficient knowledge of diverse research methods in the following types of studies: health economics, cost-effectiveness/budget impact modeling, patient reported outcomes, database analyses (prospective and retrospective), epidemiology, real world evidence, and statistics/psychometrics
